Done it. Love it. Pain in the ass though to get everything aimed properly. The reflectors in the headlight assemblies had to be worked around so the light was focused properly. But if you have time to kill its well worth it. I went with a H-4 Hi-Lo kit. Its all plug and play and you can hide all the wires very easily. The Hi-Lo kit was cool because the bulb moves when you turn on the high beam. All in all I really like mine but the proper reflection took time to get with the high and low setting.
can you please provide some more information about what you had to do to get the focus correct? Did you need to make any modification to the headlight housing? Did you need to use spacers between the bulb and the socket - or what - I'm sure others would be interested as well.
I've had other bikes that have been lacking in the headlight area. My Vee has unremarkable low beams but the high beams are already like "the eyes of god". I wouldn't necessarily want to go hid for the extra light, but do they draw less current than the stock setup? It might be a good way to get some left over power for heated gear etc...
