I,m Moving a friend to Haverhill and want to ride back with my WEE. I prefer not to use the slabs, if possible. I want a faily direct route, but a little out of the way will work fine. In 1974, I made this trip on a 350 Honda twin. Then the speed limit was 55 everywhere so the slab, mostly I95 was OK. Now I still like 60 to 70MPH and that will get you killed now.
Question is- is there secondary roads to West Virginia from Havehill, MA? I lived in Paistow NH for 38 years and in Silver Springs, FL for the last 27 years. Have not gone back on a bike, for a long time.
Any suggestions will be very welcome.

That's a tall order if you ask me. You can piece something together but it would be a lot of work. Too much population to avoid.

Ya I agree. I tried Map Quest and after I knocked out the Interstates, I would be going to Chicago and then to New England. That was when I was going from FL to NH. I thought about I84 to I81 and then secondary roads from Virginia. I don't get to travel much now, and was hoping some of the travelers could help.
Thanks

I was on 84 from Sturbridge to PA on Friday. No fun there. Did 81 last year. Same.

You really can get around the interstates, and the trip is much better but also far longer, time-wise.

West Virginia has awesome roads, but you'd want to ride all of them before moving on to the next state. I'd love to have that kind of time.

I do have some time, but now I'm a grandfather-father and I have a dognut date, at the school, with my grandaughter, on 5/25,and better not be late. I'll have about 4 days to play with.

So far, it looks like
I84 to I81 to Virginia and then anything goes. I'll do the slab during day time and wind the WEE up to 75 -80mph and then the trip will be fun, from Virginia on. I have cameras and I'll take notes, and report my experience. This will be fun.
The last time I was on the slab, I was hit by someone doing 100mph on I75, at 3 in the morning. Ripped my left bag off, jammed it under my knee, and dented my tank. I chased him to 95mph and he was still pulling away. The bike wiggled some but stayed up, and I got home less one bag and a rain jacket. The angels were with me, that night.
