Growl at low rpms

Anyone experience engine growl when starting out or at low rpms? Is this a timing issue? Bike has 17,000 kms and has never been tuned up. 1 tooth bigger spocket on front from stock.

You are probably hearing the straight cut primary gears until wind noise gets louder and the gear mesh gets enough force to stay in contact. The 2012 model has scissors type primary gears to keep the noise down. Timing is not adjustable. There is no such thing as a conventional tune up as there are no points, no timing adjustments and no carburetors to adjust.

It will take you $0.50 to fix this issue. Invest in foam ear plugs.
