This weekend I was visiting Burlington Vermont, and stopped at LandAir Honda Suzuki (where nobody would even speak to me)... but I saw a Wee-Strom in the parking lot (a customers, who I never actually located). But this bike had the sort of centerstand and skid plate I'm interested in. It seemed to have frightfully less ground clearance than my unprotected bike. I've been cruising the Stromtrooper threads reading about these accessories... but nobody seems to say if they've had any problems with ground clearance with these accessories. What do you say, Stromtroopers?
Thanks! Jon G., Arlington MA

I haven't been offroad yet with my home-made plate, but it does take about an inch off the ground clearance. I wanted some plate-collapse space before it hit the exhaust system.

On a recent trip to w KY and Virginia on some real twisty roads I was dragging my oem center stand on the left side esp. The center stand stop has a pretty thick rubber pad on it. I took that off and put a 1/8" rubber pad on. Now I drag both peg feelers before I get to the CS.

During my recent ride to Alaska I hit a pothole on two different occasions in which the centerstand banged down on the road surface. Never had any trouble cornering or dragging it. I think the momentem of the drop into the pothole caused the centerstand to come down. No ill effects, just noisy at the time. :D

SW Motech centerstand and Amotostuff skid plate for about a year now...I don't even notice they are there. But then, I'm not riding Paris to Dakar either.
