Go Cruise throttle lock…no go!

I was excited to try my new Go Cruise Throttle Lock on my 2012 650 Wee. I have Grip Puppies installed and the silicone ring for the throttle lock did slip over the grip puppies, so that was good. But the throttle lock doesn’t really work with the OEM hand guards because it’s designed to use the brake lever as a stop. I have it installed but not sure it will work. It would work if I removed the hand guard, but I don’t want to. Just thought I would inform everyone. If anyone has a better solution let me know?

Thanks all

I'm not sure why it won't work with the OEM hand guards as my 2014 has aftermarket hand guards and it works fine. Maybe a photo would be helpful?
The problem is the top of hand guards are tapered so the point where the throttle lock touches the guard is not level so with vibrations I’m not sure it will stay in place. I will test it tomorrow. I suppose I could cut a notch in the hand guard so the throttle lock can rest on the brake lever?

Ive had mine on my 2012 for years and it uses the hand guard as its stop. Yes it does vibrate and lose speed due to vibration but I still find it very useful even if I have to adjust it every few minutes, gives me something to do! Its not a cruise control.

Cal,
I will find out if it works tomorrow. Could you post a photo of how your’s looks?
When I had my 2012, I softened the plastic with a heat gun and slightly reformed it so the Go Cruise would clear it.
A ha that could work. So when you did that did the lever of the throttle lock then rest on the brake lever?
It's been a while since I had my 2012 DL650 but I used the same throttle lock. I'm pretty sure I had it stop against the factory handguard. I also used to aircraft safety wire to make it a bit snugger on the hand grip.

Just get a Kaoko. They work better and don't take up grip space

Mine works fine with the OEM handguards, but admittedly not with grip puppies. Try installing it inside the handguards and not letting it rise above it.

I do use one on my DR650 that has foam grips and Moose handguards.
I looked at the Kaoko, but didn’t want to dump a $145 bucks into it, that seems way to spendy for my wallet.

I use the vista cruise throttle lock, works much better and doesn't look
Output device Bicycle part Auto part Tool Rim

like scissors.

The alternatives all take up grip space. Not an issue with small hands, but not compatible with big ones.
I have a different throttle lock I’ve used for years. It’s nice for a right had break occasionally.
Mine is a go cruise as well.

yes
I use and love the Vista Cruise as it take up no grip space. Its a little tricky to get set up right but once done works great for $20ish bucks!

The NEP is, actually, the one I use. It, IIRC, used to be made by vista but now im not sure. Jagger was right "What a drag it is getting old!"

Not the NEP!
The NEP CC4 is the one for VStroms! They make a few models.
