Givi factory vs Givi standard side cases...

1877 Views 12 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Joyride
Just bought a 07 650 vstrom, came with factory Givi monokey
Racks but no cases, found a set of Givi monokey cases only to find out the factory bags are a different monokey pattern.
I'm thinking of making a adapter plate to relocate the buttons and monokey tab.
Has anyone else done this? Looking for tips and would rather not buy new frame racks...

Huh? There is only one monokey pattern. Are you sure that you are not trying to fit v series cases? V series sucks since there are only a couple of options.
The racks on the bike say monokey on them, the new bags are Givi E21N with monokey mounts.
The rack on the bike has the same 2 buttons and locking tab as the standard monokey hookup but the distance between the lower buttons are about 5/8" closer on the rack and the lock tab is about 3/4" shorter, also the factory rack has a offset between the top and bottom of the mounts, not flat like the standard monokey racks.

Picture of rack? Something is goofy. All monokey cases fit all monokey racks except the v series/plx racks which put the bottom pucks in a different vertical plane than the upper mount.. E21N is a standard monokey case
Yeah, that is a givi plx series rack. Only works with v series cases. Buy a pl series rack and it will work with all the normal cases like your E21N cases.
There offset, I'm considering making a plate that would accommodate the standard mount.
These say monokey right on them, just zoom in...

Thanks, I'm going to try to build a plate that will correct the pattern and offset and bolt directly onto the old rack.
If not then the pl series rack is in my future...
Yeah, they say monokey but they are the red headed step child monokey;)
Definately Givi PLX532 racks there...for the Contour style Monokey cases V35 V37 or Kappa K33

Much easier to just sell those racks & buy the std flat Monokey PL532...or the quick release version PLR532 racks (532 is the number assigned to Givi accessories for the 04-11DL650....except for the E528 top plate which fits both 02-12 DL1000 & 650)
Or get the V series cases and take advantage of the more streamlined fit of the PLX racks (what I'd personally do.)

I prefer the narrower width of the E21s or E22s
& the right to left offset difference isnt as exaggerated

I have the V35's and like them, but they came on the bike.

Thanks all for the information, I got the smaller cases because of the top loading and narrower width, new racks are the best option for me...
New to Stromtrooper, great group and strait up info on all responses...
