2018 V-Strom 1000XT

Curious if anyone's done this before. I don't like how low the SW-Motech Crash Bars are... and the Givi Crash Bars seem to be at least at a 'decent' height.

BUT the Givi Skid Plate is HORRIBLE imo because of how much variance there can be on the skid plate. As in, I've seen some people get one that's only 2mm thick, while others get a plate that's 5+mm thick... I also don't like the amount of rivets versus welds there are... Where as I've seen/heard amazing things about the SW-Motech Skid Plate...

So... I'd prefer to get the Givi Crash Bars, and use the SW-Motech Skid Plate... But I'm not sure how their bolt spots would be when used together, or if they require a connection 'to' the crash bars to be useful/effective.

Basically, it seems to really suck in this area of motorcycle parts land where bike protection is concerned... You only have two brands you can really go with that are 'name brand' if you will. SW-Motech, or Givi. I know there is Heed which seems to be handmade items from the sounds/looks of it, but I don't see a listing anywhere for a 2018 V-Strom 1000XT...

If anyone has pictures of this sort of set up, I'd love to see em. And if not any pictures, at least a 'yea they use the same bolt locations' or 'yea they need to be mounted to the crash bars to be effective'.

I just installed the sw-Motech skid plate and I have the stock crash bar.Sw-Motech makes a skid plate that can be used with other crash bars and I would assume it mounts differently in the front.

Yes, I have the Givi crash bars with the SW Motech skid plate. It requires an adapter that was listed on a list of things I used to give away for free for the asking with any other order. Mainly to cover postage.

I think I still have one.

BTW, don't believe the SW Motech is worthy of trail riding. If you do remove the brackets that mount to the engine.
