I'm toying with the idea of doing a fall event for next year.
I know VTom used to run one in Harcourt every fall, but I don't think that has gone on for a few years now.

I have my trailer at a small, quiet park north of Tweed, Ont., which puts it dead centre of many excellent roads - both paved and otherwise. The campground has excellent tenting sites, plus they are adding a couple of small bunkies that are supposed to be for 4 - 6 people. There are full showers & washroom facilities as well. The majority of the campground is located along the river as well.

I was thinking the weekend before thanksgiving - most people are busy with family on thanksgiving, and the park generally closes up that weekend anyway. The weekend before, the weather should still be nice enough for riding and tenting.

I have organized several larger events like this in the past, but this would be more relaxed and informal. Maybe a good close-out to the riding season.

If there's enough people interested, I can enquire what they would charge us , and we can go from there.

What do you think?

I like the idea and would be interested.
Tweed is a great launching pad to head east to the Frontenac region, or north to Kawarthas, Algonquin and Haliburton or northeast toward Calabogie.
The Fall Peep show is often the weekend before, so it might be a conflict for those that would like to come out to this.
Yes a group rate would be good!

I will keep you all posted.

Thanks.

The average high is 42*f and the low is 27*f. That's zero +- on the C scale:). I'm used to a multi-day ride to a gathering from the NW corner of the US, but not in freezing weather. Y'all have fun over there. Thanks for hosting it. It is a lot of work and very nice of you to offer. I will keep up with this thread in case you change the month. September would be nice. Bobby

In case people were unclear, I was talking about the weekend before the Canadian Thanksgiving, which is usually the first weekend of October approx.
The weather is often still quite mild during the day, but cooler at night. No where near freezing.
Sometimes it's warm enough for swimming - if you're brave.

I'd be up for it.

Half a dozen Ottawa area riders (5 on VStroms) a few weeks ago made it to Clova QC (where?) over 200 Km of street and then, the fun part, 200 Km of really sh*tty dirt road. This fall event of yours sounds too easy, but there's something really good with a nice ride and some relaxing camping (instead of pretending to be a real adventurer crossing equatorial jungle, being shot at while suffering the trots, or whatever it is we thought we were doing).

So, yeah, let's do it.

I'm interested but I'll probably return to my property in PEC rather than camp out. Would like to meet some fellow riders and check out some nice roads.

So I've spoken to the park owners Rob & Elizabeth, and they're all up for it.
The date is Oct. 4 - 6th 2019 , if I'm reading my calendar right. That is the weekend before Canadian Thanksgiving.
The weather is still pretty decent during the day, with cool nights - great for campfires.

So I'll start on the final details as far as routes, meals etc..
They said they're "Bunkies" will be all good to go by then . I was expecting them to be a box with a couple of beds in them, but apparently they will be furnished and have toilets too - pretty fancy. They should sleep 4 - 6.

Obviously it would be less expensive to share a site/bunkie with others, so check to see who else wants to come with you.

Like I said, this year will be a low-key thing. But if it goes well then we'll expand things from there.
I'm not planning any sort of registration fee or anything like that, you would book your own accommodations - just let me know so I can keep a running tally ( https://haidshideaway.ca ). Make sure you also tell them you are part of the weekend I'm planning.

Questions, email me directly: [email protected]

Thanks,
McJamie
