I'd like to raise my gear shift lever a bit if possible. When I look at the linkage, I see two possible ways to do it. The spline contraption on the left looks pretty standard and I imagine I could turn it a cog or two. There's also that cool looking knurled turnbuckle bit on the right looks like it's there just for that. Has anyone here successfully adjusted their shifter?

NEVER MIND, I FIGURED IT OUT!

Yes, Ive adjusted many of them with that type of threaded-rod adjustment, including my Vstrom1000 and ZRX1100. The spline adjustment on the shaft can be a coarse ajustment, the threaded rod can be a fine adjustment. I use the threaded rod unless I run out of thread engagement. Then I'll go to the spline adjustment, but finish with the threaded rod.

If you can keep the angle between the two parts close to 90° the shifting will be smoother. Too small an angle will interfere with the lever action.
