I just ordered a G2 Throttle Tamer which is an aluminum throttle tube with a cammed non-linear ratio which helps eliminate the jerkiness of on-off throttle control. While this isn't too bad on the 650 I mainly wanted it so I could run heated grips without worrying abut the plastic oem throttle tube melting as some have experienced. I've also heard good things about the Delrin bushings on the G2.

Anyway I figured you all might want to know that I e-mailed G2 and they informed me that if I wanted a stock ratio cam (instead of the non-linear ratio) the cam they make for the DR400 is the same as the DL650. The cam's are interchangeable so if I don't like the non-linear option I'll just get the other one.

When I get it installed and ride a bit I'll post more of a review.

i've got one. after some time the outer bushing has worked loose and would have been long gone if i didn't have hand guards. G2 won't send me a new one, they just told me to glue the original back in. also the action has become "sticky". exactly what those delrin bushings are supposed to prevent. the action of the tamer cam is so tame it's not even noticeable. the only benefit i've noticed is i can now get grips that don't turn to slime like the EOM grips do.

My G2 throttle tube works fine. I put the stock heated throttle tube on for the winter and really miss the G2 non-linear action.

G2 Tamer

I put one on my 09 1K. The change is indeed subtle but real enough. The place you notice it most is:

(1) Starting from a dead stop; originally I had to be careful about over-revving and then having to slip the clutch a lot. With the Tamer you'll under-twist the throttle for a while, which is better than the former situation.

(2) When cruising at low speeds (10-25 mph) on bad roads, especially if standing up. With the original throttle cam it's extremely easy to jerk it open when hitting a bump, or spin the rear wheel in sand, dirt, or gravel.

For me, it works and was worth the price.
