How many miles can I expect to get between oil changes if I switch to Full Synthetic or is it about the same as conventional?

I run Mobil 1 4t 10w-40 (full syn). I change it at 5,000 miles and typically the bike uses 1 extra quart between changes. The oil still looks pretty good at 5,000. Filter every other oil change...10,000 miles.

IMO, I am extending change intervals as long as is practical. I bet most will do it sooner.

Is there any reason why the Suzuki recommended oils and change intervals won't work?

It depends how you use the bike. Do you do long or short rides, does your bike sit unused for long times?. If you don't use the bike often or do short distances where the engine heat up and cools down you will need to change the oil more frequently whether you use mineral or synthetic.The oil Suzuki recommends is fine for the bike (they engineered the thing).
