Your legs may like forward controls, but your back will hate them.

Ive rode with forward controls for MANY years LOL
Talk to Richland Rick at AdventureTech. He makes and sell parts for VStroms, no forward controls but a foot peg and control lowering relocation kit that may be enough relief for you. And you never know if someone else has asked him about forward controls and he's done some thinking about them already.
He would be my first call if I was thinking in that direction. He's a member here and listed in the Vendors section.

I have some ideas that will prolly work but always open to others
as for the "lowered" pegs thats not a option, with my leg issues I need them fairly straight plus Im 6-3 LOL
when I get something going I will post pics as others may also be interested
For the most part it would not be hard.

The foot peg brackets support the gear lever and brake lever so you would just unbolt them and move them forward.

The gear lever would require a longer link rod.

With the brake you would move the master cylinder & brake light switch forward too, that would require a longer brake hose.

The problem is the strom has no frame to mount it all on.

Look up highway pegs, most mount them too their crash bars or bash plate, you may find photos of some that could work for you.

Griz, if you live near a motorcycle salvage company you could do well to take your tape measure there and look for a whole system for both sides that will occupy the same sized space you need. Any brand of a "metric cruiser" will do. Ideally one with matching shaft splines will be a big bonus. Then having a complete system, your mission gets reduced to fab'n up a way to mount it. Don't be deterred .

only thing that may deterr me is running outta beer LOL no salvage for M/C near me but have found some cheaper forward controls for other metric bikes on the ole amazon so could use the pedals levers pivots etc
Found this little bit on the site

Not knocking it and would like to see you succeed. The Honda CTX is one to look at for ideas.
There is also a group that helps modify bikes for folks with disabilities called THE BIKE EXPERIENCE. They may have some ideas.

Wondering if you got parts from a Suzuki cruiser may make it a little easier I just put highway pegs on my Strom to stretch out on long rides and works fairly well.

yea last bike was a Intruder that I put FC's on------just took the DL1000 up on the lift, removed the plastics and got a good look at the operation of controls-----some 3/8 steel plate, some welding and extended rods should get me where I wanna be------this DL1000 was somewhat neglected so Im going over the complete bike while its on the lift

Buying another bike is probably less trouble. I wish you luck but getting the details right may be difficult.

My wife has the DCT CTX and it really is a gem. The only hassle is ground clearance but it's very pleasant to ride.
