So after 40k Km of Aus ADV riding my XTA5 finally broke somewhat.
Front Fork seal blew, thanks Wombeyan Caves rd.
So I'm deliberating about pulling shocks out and taking to local shop.Or a specialist in these guys www.shocktreatment.com.au
At close to 1000 dollars I need some reassurance it's worth Upgrading

A grand for front shock revalve and re-build? That is really high, why not source the parts and do it yourself? Since you are in Australia, I would contact Jamie and see if he could put together a complete kit for you to DIY:

DMr Performance Suspension ? Performance Motorcycle Suspension and Chassis

Since he is close and reasonable I set him my forks and rear shock a couple of years ago for complete re-builds. That was 25K miles ago and I am still happy with his work...and it was night and day difference from the squishy oem set up. Don't forget about the rear shock too...it is just as important as the front for an overall perfect ride. It, however is not DIY rebuild-able and must be cut open and welded back together which is one of Jamie's specialties.

$1000 bucks.
It's a do it yourself thing unless that includes using their test track for fine tuning.
Was there an issue with the forks for the last 40km that you didn't like, if not whack seals in and ride.

Harry

PS I have use Shock treatmeant and they know suspension.
