Got out for my second Moto ride of the year yesterday. Total miles were just over 200 and I was able to get into the foothills west of Denver. Started out with the idea of getting the Colorado tag (picture game played on the ST-Owners forum), which is located in the little town of Lyons. Lyons is nestled right at the base of the foothills where Little Thompson Canyon (Hw 36) and St. Vrain Canyon (7) come together, about 60 miles north of Denver.
Decided I did not want to ride any freeway so I set the GPS to bypass freeways and only route secondary roads. This took me directly through the heart of Denver. No problem I need to get my adrenaline up this morning any way. Took about an hour to get across Denver and onto the North West side of town. There, traffic and frustration settled down to a manageable level. Pulled into Lyons about two hours from the time I left the house. Got my Tag picture of the little Cafe “Stone Cup”.
Hiway 7 up through St.Vrain Canyon is one of the most fun and exhilarating rides on a motorcycle. Not to mention the beauty of the Canyon. 14 miles of pure bliss. However over the years the Canyon has become more congested with traffic. Not today, I think todays blast up the canyon was the only time I did not encounter any (not one) car going up. I had the road all to myself. Great ride. Once to the top I headed along Peak to Peak HI way (72), again no traffic. Amazing.
Continued blasting along 72 (Peak To Peak). Rode through Black Hawk, Central City (Two of our three legal gambling towns) and over to Evergreen for a coffee break. Left a new tag photo along the way. From there some more of the small canyons and gulches, concluding with a spirited run down Dear Creek Canyon and on home across the southern side of Metro Denver via C470 Freeway. Here is the route and some pictures . You all know me. Gotta have some pictures

Nice the snow has retreated enough to enjoy the countryside.
When I had a chance to visit some of those roads I was surprised by the Casino at Blackhawk. Getting through there with no traffic must have been nice.
