How do you install the filter gasket? From the parts view on Bike Bandit it looks like the gasket sets on the throttle body side of the box then set the filter on top of the gasket then the top of the air box bolts on to it. I think it takes something like 5 hands to do this. Is this the correct procedure or am I missing something?

Your missing something. The gasket has a groove in it. It "surrounds" the edge of the filter which goes in the groove. Its probably a good idea to put a light coating of waterproof grease on the top and bottom of the gasket surfaces.

New air filters have been coming with gaskets for a few years now. It's still a good idea to make sure there is a gasket on the edge in case a filter came from old stock. There is no reason to grease the top. Greasing the bottom where the air seal is needed is a personal choice.

Yeah that made things go together a lot better. I hate brain farts. As I've read in countless post from others I opened the air box and found a filter without the gasket seal. I got one from Bike bandit and they list filter and gasket as too separate items all the way up to K9.

HiFlo's aftermarket stock-type air filters have two listings. The listing for older stroms does not have the gasket. The listing for newer stroms has a different catalog number for the same filter with the gasket included for $4 more. Nothing wrong with re-using the old gasket, just be sure a gasket is used.
