Anyone up for a ride to the Shaker Museum/Grounds in Chatham, NY? I'ld like to leave from somewhere in Dutchess County, ride some great farm/country rodes, head up to see the Shaker world. Some great roads in Columbia county.
I'm thinking of a Sat/Sunday sometime in July.
ALL the above is open to adjustment!
How 'bout it , Buck? Anyone? We're not to far from Ct., for you NE guys.

This sounds like fun, what time do you plan on leaving? I've been through Poughkeepsie only once so I need good instructions to the meeting point :) I'm in Ellenville and will probably head over on US44.

Bonjour,

I'm off till September, so tell me what's a good date for you. Weekday or weekend. Then we'll figure out our meeting place and time.

Hey, I was over in your state this week. NY97 to 371 to 191 to 92 to Rte. 6 to Wellsboro, 287South to an in-freakin'-credible Rte. 414/14. And 84 (sucks) back to NY. World class road, that 414.

Any other takers?

And I was in yours this weekend :) Yesterday I was riding around the Catskills and today around Kingston over to Connecticut.
I did part of your PA ride last weekend, From Hancock to rt 92 on some back roads, then south to below Wilke-Barre on rt 29.
I've been meaning to check out 414. Farther along 414 is Rt 44, 60 miles of hills and curves and no stop signs.
I'm free most Saturdays, except August 2 and September 27 and the Labor Day weekend.

I will most definitely get back to you about a Penn ride. I hear lots of talk about the roads in Vermont, but nothing about the Endless Mtn/NE corner roads in your state. Outstanding asphalt!
August 2 is the date some of the NE guys are setting up a Maine-NH ride. take a look at it.

I'm thinking August 2.
It's only 16-17 miles from Chatham to the round barn in Hancock. I would like to see that too. How about meeting in lower Columbia county, ride north to Chatham, visit, eat, and continue on to Hancock. And eat.
I mapsourced a route and it looks very do-able.
What do you think?

Turner,

I would have went just didn't check in on the site the past week or so. I might head over to CT for the group ride this weekend. If you are going, maybe we can meet and ride over to the start point together. Let me know if you are interested.

The ride is listed under the NE Troopers section.

The CT ride is to early for me, most Saturday's I don't get off work till 7.

Anybody get "Rider" magazine? In the last issue they had a ride story of a group that started in NY and went to Maine. I tried some of the roads they took through the Catskills and they were fun.

If I didn't have to work this Sunday, I'd ride on up. I guess I'll flip a coin to see if I should ride the Catskills or Poconos this weekend:)
