My cooling fan won't come on. is there a fuse i can check?

also, on the way home, my temp gauge went into the red for about 30 sec. am i ok?

2k5 DL1000, 22k on the clock. just put new coolant in it on friday after doing a clutch swap.

There is a fuse for the fan. Check it. If okay, unplug the wire from the sensor in the radiator and short the wire terminals together. If that starts the fan, replace the sensor. If not check the fan for obstructions and replace if physically okay. Chances are your bike hasn't suffered permanent damage.
where is the fuse for the fan, is it in the fuse box with the other blade fuses or is it in a hidden, hard to reach spot?

sensor is bad. I think it might have been bad since i bought the bike, but it hasn't been hot enough for me to notice. i took a jumper wire and touched it to the two contacts the came off the sensor and the fan fired right up. so i installed a toggle switch and a few feet of wire and it works a treat. I might even keep it instead of ordering new parts.
