I have an 07 with over 80K miles on it, the motor is starting to get tired. So I want to get my hands on a replacement motor to have in my posession for when the time come to replace.

Here is the question:

What years DL650 and/or SV650 are a direct bolt in replacement.

My understanding (it is a non abs 07 with the twin sparkplug heads) is:

2007-2009 DL650 motor direct swaps no issues
Is the same true for the SV. I dont really care about the difference in the cams between the two since this is my long haul/commuting bike.

Direwolf? Any ideas?

Anyone?

If you want a sure thing, it would have to be the same year and model. The SV is very different. The '07 had a major change from the '06 and the wiring harness changed in '08. Getting and '08 or later could probably be done fairly easily but it would take some investigation. "Tired" isn't exactly a mechanic's description. A motor swap is a big deal and 80,000 miles is not a huge amount.

Oh I expect to get 100K easily but the motor has been getting nosier over the last 5K miles, it is not consuming oil but prefer to be ready just in case.

Will have to find an 07 as I was not aware the harness changed between 07 & 08.

Figures...

Thanks!
