I have a 2011 Wee with 150 miles on it. I have noticed some slight knocking on start up after sitting over night. It goes away in a matter of seconds but with it being new I don't want to make a minor problem a major one.

I looked at a used 2011 and it made a similar sound when starting. Is this just the nature of the beast or do I take her back to the dealer this weekend?

It's just the time it takes for the oil to fill the galleries and get pressure to the top end. You'll get the same sound for longer when changing the oil filter as it takes longer to fill the filter before oil pressure is established. It's common.

I noticed that after first oil/filter change but it went away so I figured it was okay. Good to know for sure that it's common. Thanks again GreyWolf.

My Wee engine was kinda 'klunky' sounding for the first several 1000 miles or so. I noticed the 'knocking' at low RPMs while riding.

Once it was broken-in and loosened-up, it became noticeably quieter.

The shifting also became less 'knotchy' after some miles were accumulated.
