Ok, fellow Stromtroopers, need your input.

My DL650 K5, which I bought new in December, has been sitting for about 1 month now without being started waiting for my new Russell to arrive. A buddy of mine gave me a Kriss Signal Guard (turn signal cancel module), which I installed yesterday. The installation went without any problem. I turned the ignition on without starting the bike and tested the circuit. Everything worked as advertised but by the 3 attempt it looked like the battery was completely dead. I turned the ignition off and when I took voltage reading at the battery with a meter it only registered 8.9V. I put the bike on Battery Tender and after about 10 minutes was getting 11.69V but as soon as the ignition was turned on the voltage would drop at alarming rate to about 9V. I left the bike on the charger overnight and haven’t check it yet.

Could the battery really be in such bad shape from sitting around unused for only a month or do I have a problem with my installation? I went over the installation wiring instruction about 10 times and am positive that everything was properly installed.

Oh, I should also mention that I have a 6V converter for my XM radio directly connected to the battery via fused panel. I realize that it’s a constant drain on the battery, but is it significant to drain after a month?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Possible but not probable. . . .

A little more "likely"

More and more likely....IMHO

A constant draw of only a few milli-amps (and I think your converter maybe be more than that) over 24 hours a day and 30 days without any charging could quite easily put a battery in the condition yours is in.
