Looking to raise the AFR from about 11 to 14/15, has anyone done the same with an ecu flash/tune?

How do you know it's 11 to 1?

13 is best for power.

I'd try www.mooremafia.com for a flash.

Maybe a Power Commander 5 or 6 for a DIY solution.

If your bike is stock, it already is running 14.xx most times. Except WOT. Then it may go as low as 13:5. Anything higher than 14.7 will probably just kill your engine in the long run.

Lean mixes run hot and can damage parts. Rich mixtures run cooler but can carbon up parts and reduce fuel economy. A manufacturer balances many factors when setting the fuel mixture. Besides the ability to run smoothly they also have to meet air quality standards (exhaust emissions). One should exercise care and be thoughtful when changing the A/F mix on any vehicle.

Compression ratio is ~11:1. not AFR.

My bad, I believe I was reading an older thread claiming that V-stroms tend to run rich. They might have been referring to the older generations.
Usually most get 50+ MPG. If it was running rich at cruise MPG would be less than this.

Looking at the exhaust pipe and spark plugs can tell you if they are running rich or lean. Usually dark and sooty is rich. White and light colored is lean.
