Hi All,

I'm going to be riding to the east coast of Canada starting this Sunday (leaving from the Greater Toronto Area.) I'll be riding out through the USA (Lake Placid, etc.)

My route is Roughly like this, although some details may change:

http://tinyurl.com/43wrgbs

The route back is completely open, it depends on how much time I spend on the east coast. I'll likely be setting up my tent at Black Lab's place Tuesday night but apart from that I haven't set up any formal accomodation so if you have a place I could setup my tent along the route I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

Tom

Looks kinda like what we're planning to do a few weeks later. Including Lake Placid, Blacklab, PEI and Nova Scotia. Lake Placid is great. Last time we spent time going up the ski jumps...pretty cool. But took so long that I didn't have time to ride the bob sled.

Have fun, Tom. Seems like Blacklab is getting lots of visitors this summer.

Hopefully, you and Dirt_Mom will be among this year's visitors! Greywolf is planning a trip east too.

I just finished up a several day visit with footloose. The weather was perfect, so a lot of ground was covered: some riding, got out on the water, and into the air! Even ate some lobsters! We had lots of fun and I hope to post some photos in the near future.

"Come on down!" Mount Desert Island is a wonderful place to visit.

Tom, if you get there at the right time of day and you've got a few hours, you ought to visit the Fortress at Louisbourg while you're in Cape Breton. The tour is worthwhile. It's a living history museum done right.

I've been there once and will be there again at the beginning of September. The Cabot Trail, camping at Meat Cove, and Louisbourg were the highlights of my 2009 NS trip.

I can attest to that! :hurray:
Barry gave me a wonderful tour of Mount Desert Island, some other parts of Maine and we even did some riding into Quebec.
I plan on posting a ride report soon when I get the over 800 photos I took organized.
I wish I could just turn around and go back right now!

Because V-Tom HAS given advanced notice as to his arrival here, just as you did, Reuben won't give him too much trouble.

Reuben didn't give you much trouble, did he?

(I am not so sure about Dirt_Dad's arrival though. Dirt_Mom should be fine. I worry about Dirt_Dad though........).

Really...more than a month notice and I could still have a problem? Just how unsavory does Reuben think I am?

That's a rhetorical question!

Jon, I just can't figure it out. I KNOW that you have followed proper protocol on this, but every time I mention your name to Reuben, he growls a very deep menacing growl.

I can't figure it out.

Dirt_Mom will be fine though. If I were you, upon your arrival, I would hang back behind that Spyder Dirt_Mom will be riding just to let Reuben sniff the air for a little bit.

Lab's are funny dogs, you know. Very unpredictable.........

Tom. I have a cottage on the eastern shore you are welcome to use but it is way off your planned route.
I don't know what your schedule is but if it fits when you get to Amherst you might look into taking the shore route towards Joggins,Advocate,Parrsboro,Five Islands,Bass River and Great Village. It is a great ride and more or less in the general direction you are heading and it beats the heck out of the Trans Canada, although slower.
If you, or any other Troopers, have any trouble while in Nova Scotia and need help don't hesitate to contact me.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

It's not Reuben, it's me. I have the same effect on women and children.
I can relate to this dilemma.

You and I should get along fine then. Most likely, things will work out between Reuben and you as well.

Just don't get between him and his food, okay?

But sometimes I like messing with dogs and their food.
Um, guys, you are doing it again... :yikes:

Ahem, to be on topic, looks like a nice trip, VTom. Ride safe!

I appreciate all the offers and comments!

I will be working up my route this eve so I'll see if I can fit in the suggestions (and possibly places to stay.)

Any more comments are welcome,

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,
I am throwing a BIG curve ball at you! I don't like the New York portion of your trip. At this time of year, with everyone heading out on vacation, and with the summer heat, the ride could go "south" for you pretty quick.

I have to take Reuben swimming first, but I will be back to suggest some "adjustments" for you.

I emailed you an updated route using mapsource.. hoping you have a copy. There have been some (several) adjustments since my google maps link. Most involves avoiding interstates and hwy 2. if you can, please look at it first and advise.

Thanks!

Doin' what

Tom, I suspect your trip will be similar to the one my wife and I did back in 2009. That means a much more scenic ride than what you and I normally do when we get together. If you're in the Adirondacks and need to blow off some steam or just want to stretch your throttle hand I highly recommend CR 6 and CR 4. They were exactly what the Dr ordered after riding so many hours at a scenery gawking pace. I know I want to ride them again.
