Welcome to the club. We will promptly add your name to the wall of shame ...

I did mine last weekend ... I was not happy.

On a good note, the only thing damaged was my pride ...

Awesome footage.

Sorry it happened; at least it was in a safe environment and you made it out. I assume that damage to the bike was mostly cosmetic; were you able to ride it home?

Where was it?

Oh, I have to ask: would this have happened on your wee? :biggrinjester:
Maybe the tires were too cold; yeah, I think that was it; I didn't see any warmup laps...

First day with the GoPro, figured eh??!!!

Yes, absolutely.....if my number was going to come up, I cannot think of a better place for it to happen....controlled, geared up and lots of helping hands/support.

Yes, purely cosmetic, and not too much.....rear passenger peg/assembly, hand-guard, right signal light, brake lever, windshield, and Motech crash bar.

The only thing that truly got destroyed, was my windshield, which ironically, I have removed from my bike all other similar events......figures!!!

For anyone wondering, those SW-Motech bars were worth their weight in gold.....NONE of the body panels were touched, very impressed.

Where was it?
Pitt Meadows, out at the airport, there's a makeshift track set up, typically once per month, great way to come play, in a non-race environment, with no pressure or intimidation....any level of riders.

It could have happened on any bike, but I would say, on that particular day, corner, pavement condition, etc, no, I would probably have been better off on the Wee.

The lighter weight, nimbleness, and less torquey motor are less forgiving.

That said, I know what I did wrong, and could have potentially made the same error on any bike.....shit happens.

Tires......they were pretty warm, more rider error than anything.....decreasing radius turn, scraped pegs twice in that turn, lost a bit of concentration, took a wider line, tried to close the line, saw water ahead of my, just too tight, perhaps not smooth enough.

Hey, it's a big ole Vstrom, with no measures ever made to weight savings, Conti Trail Attacks, and less than perfect pavement......all I had left to rely on was rider skill, so look where that got me, LOL!!!

It was the last session of the day, and I was seriously thinking about skipping it, as I had pushed it pretty hard the session before, and was tired.....I'm planning a N Cali trip in 2 weeks, so did NOT want to drop my bike, and screw up my chances of making the trip.......that old Murphy's Law guy came a knockin, and I was stupid enough to answer. :green_lol:

Great video, nice write up and the ending made me laugh (even though the beginning made me cry [on the inside]).

Glad you were OK.

Looked like a lot of fun. Well, right up until ... you know. Glad there was nothing significantly wrong with you or the bike. I know how much it sucks to bend/break stuff on your bike. At least you were enjoying it at the time.

Yes, totally sucks to bend or break, it makes me absolutely mental, I'm picky about my bike.

BUT....yes, have SO much fun doing that stuff, and the damage was so light, that I'm doing my best to stop fixating on the small stuff.

My wife dropped mine for the first time last weekend... Had it up on the centerstand, she was trying to get the top bag off, was pushing on it, and forward it went, down and left!

Luckily, I have engine guards, which did a fantastic job. However, dropping it once in the first three weeks of ownership does not bode well.

I'm glad you weren't hurt- the video was really cool, looks like a lot of fun (until the part where you went down, that is). Glad you had the bars as well- Puts me at ease if I ever drop mine while riding!

One that scrapes a lot. I don't know the brand, it came with the bike. Having inspected it after the fact, it wobbles a bit from side to side.

It's the sidestand from now on.

Well, look at it this way. You know the outer limits of the bike, "and track" a whole lot better now. Decreasing radius got me on the Cherola skyway one time. I went into the turn bout 80 mph and half way through saw a motorcycle down in the road partially blocking my lane. I lhad to dump it and slide into the guy, I lived to tell about it too. Glad your OK.
