The wire wheels are lighter but harder to clean, if that is important to you. The 10 spoke alloy wheels are pretty robust but would be more susceptible to cracking in an extreme impact that would bend the steel rims & spokes of the XA. both are generally repairable, and with either, you probably would be flat towing the bike home.
From reading posters here and on other sites, airing down tire pressure too low for the weight of the bike in order to gain better off road traction can lead to rim fractures or bends.The alloys are more than adequate for washboard gravel and minimum maintenance roads.
