digital voltmeter connections?

Im trying to install a Mr Guage voltmeter.
The meter has 3 wires, 2 of which I have connected to the pos and neg. battery posts.
meter displays a constant 0.00 in all conditions...
any help would be appreciated

A search reveals

Red to ignition
Black to '-' of battery
Blue to '+' of battery (For accurate reading)

The best ignition on wire is an orange with a green stripe. The OEM heated grip connector behind the radiator and the O/G power feed wire to the rear brake switch are probably the best bets.
