Well, couple months ago I asked about tire suggestions for my wee. The advice given to me to purchase a Bridgestone Battlewing BW501/BW502 has been beyond solid. Tires have lasted well beyond their expected lifespan, I'm currently sitting at 15k.

Here's the odd thing... the front is a regular BW501 and the rear is the special version BW502-G -- the best guess I got is that it has a few mm deeper threads for longer life.

Well, 15k miles later, the front tire is almost at the wear indicator....but the rear tire still looks meaty as hell. I think I could go for another 5k before it'll even go near to the wear indicator.

So....is the G variant of the BW501/BW502 have deeper threads/grooves?

There are a couple other differences as I understand it:

BW501 type / Speed Rating / Tread Width / Tread Depth / Approved Rim Size

G / 59V / 3.9 / 8 / 2.15

E / 59V / 4.3 / 6 / 2.50

J / 59H / 4.3 / 5 / 2.50

BW502 type / Speed Rating / Tread Width / Tread Depth / Approved Rim Size

G / 69V / 6.1 / 9 / 3.50-4.50

E / 69V / 6.1 / 10 / 3.50-4.50

J / 69H / 6.1 / 9 / 3.50-4.50

Hope this helps.

PS: tread depth is measured in 32nd's
