The rear tire on my Wee (trailwing? ...the stocker) has a flat spot about 2 inches wide. I notice it break on corners...like a slight, short slip, so I'm thinking of a new set of Tourances.

Where do you folks get tires? Buy 'em online and get 'em installed locally?
Which shop? ...or do you mount at home and do a static balancing job?

Is that a radial 2 inch wide all the way around, or a flat spot from a major skid? The radial line with "chicken strips" on the sides is normal. It just wears out in the center first, because thats where is spends most of the time. I have always mounted my own, but they were always tube type. I will do mine on the Wee to learn how. Or take to John's next tech day in the Springs and use his harbor frieght tool. I havn't decided yet what tires I will put on it.

The flat spot goes all the way around ...from wear. Does that play a part in a bump or a slip when you go around a curve (dry pavement)? These tires are up to about 5600 miles.

Mine didn't wear perfectly even. Caused something like you describe. But I would need to look at it to have a better idea. Make sure your tire pressures are up. Those trailwings get weird when they get warn, and low pressure makes it worse.

TW's, like many other tires will be flat in the middle with a lot of up-right riding, in a straight line. The simple cure is to start riding more twisties up the canyons.

Anyway, to answer your question....I purchase all my tires from Bike Bandit. Great prices and with my AMA membership, I get another 10% off. Currently, I am running the Shinko 705's.

About a year ago, I invested in a tire changing stand ($100 Harbor Freight) and I also balance my own tires. With three bikes in the garage, I probably save about $250-$300 a year doing my own work.

If you were in the Springs, I would recommend Apex. They have outstanding service and great tire prices.
