OK all,
I just got back from local dealer looking a new Wee w abs. not sure I need abs but that is what he had. i spent a bit of seat time on my bros wee and liked it. i currently have and love a beutiful 94 CB 1000 but want to add the Strom for better commuter, pack horse, mid range touring and camping machine. I have been through all of the Wee/Vee stuff ( entertaining to say the least) and seeing that I will most likely keep the big ol Honda for giggles, any reason the collective brain trust here can talk me in or out of either bike? Wee or Vee. I am 6'2 and 250lb ride solo most of time and rarely exceed 70 mph
I must also add I am considering a Tiger 1050 I will duck now to avoid the scuds being hurled my way.
thanks for the input

You don't need ABS until you need it.
By that I mean "you won't know it's there until it saves your butt"

Many people are surprised when they feel the ABS kick in, and think the system is "too sensitive". The truth is that these people were previously locking up their wheel but not noticing it.

That being said, if you're coming off a litre-bike, get the wee, especially if you're going to keep said litre-bike. The Vee is not a good compromise between a wee and a powerful bike. I was hoping it would be, but it isn't.

The best advice you'll get (other than "get the wee" and "get the ABS") is "go try them both out".

I was where you are 2 months ago, with my 1854cc Strat in the garage (a WONDERFUL bike that I hope never to part with). I felt I was pushing my luck taking her on any more fire roads in WVA :yikes: so was looking for something better suited.

Looked at & read up on lots of the competition (too much $$ or too much plastic or too few parts & repair shops, etc) and kept coming back to the Stroms. I trusted the consensus on here that although both Stroms can do just about anything, the VEE was perfect for 2 up highway touring & feeling the power, and the WEE was perfect for solo riding & feeling light & nimble on journeys off the pavement. I was worried about anything smaller than the Strat feeling underpowered, but after 2 months and 1,500 miles have never once felt that way on the Wee. Quite simply, this bike is just FUN!

I'm 6'1" 215 and only ride the bike 1-up; if SWMBO wants to ride we take the Strat. Also I ride twisty country roads, not interstates, although I was on I-64 for 2 hours bringing the bike home and did fine at 75mph - you do notice truck drafts more for sure, and the higher RPMs take getting used to! I found a great deal via E-bay on a non-ABS, so I do not have experience with that.

I found it interesting that the guy I bought from, who had maintained her immaculately, had gone to the Wee after 24 years as a BMW guy, said that their proprietary parts & service plans made things just too difficult if you didn't have a dealer down the street - to say nothing of the high $$ for anything BMW...

Best of luck with your decision - as you can see from this forum, Wee or Vee you will get a great bike. Ride safe, Buckee
