went to start my '07 650 this am and there was no juice. I found that I didnt switch the ignition off. Will a Battery Tender Plus recharge the battery. After 6 hours, the green light on the tender was steady indicating that the battery is charger. Lights, etc went on but it would not crank over. With enough time will the Battery Tender recharge enough to get it started? Thanks--Carl

Is that the 2007 battery? It might be kaput.

One sign of a battery that needs to be replaced is that it charges up to full voltage (which the battery charger sees and switches itself off), but there is little capacity left in the battery. Let it charge overnight. If it still won't start the engine -- and the terminals are clean and tight -- you're due for a new battery.

Will a Battery Tender Plus recharge the battery.
The problem with smart battery chargers is that they are to smart.

I accidentally discharged my lawn mower battery, left the key on and a solenoid stayed energized....anyway, the battery tested with 9 volts.

My smart charger showed a green light but wasn't charging, seems these smart chargers need a minimum voltage to allow it to start charging.

I temporarily hooked up an old 1 amp dumb charger I had lying around, that got the reference voltage up high enough that the smart charger actually started charging.

My lawn mower battery is the same used in a ninja 500, agm type. After a day it was up and running and have had no problems since.

Don't take this as an insult, but the bike wasn't in gear with the kickstand down or the kill switch off, was it? Not that I've ever done that before...

4 years old it is probably kaputt, but just thought I'd ask.

Battery tender + is a smart charger but it won't have all of the patented technology on board. It may not be able to break down sulphation that occurred while the battery was flat. Because of that it may not be able to bring the capacity (stored amps) back to normal. You will see an apparently charged battery (12.5v) but there may not be enough amps to crank the bike over. The battery will now have high resistance to amp flow and when you hit the start button the voltage will just drop to an insufficient level.
