I would like to try taking a ride on the darkside but am having problems finding several of the tire choices suggested in previous posts. They seem to have been either discontinued or discontinued in the 205/50/17 size. How wide a tire can be used? Have seen recommendations that shouldn't be more than 8.1" section width. Have also seen General Altimax Arctic recommended which is listed as 8.4" section width. Looking for some guidance please. What have you purchased recently and is working for you. 2009 DL650ABS.
Thanks

175/55-17, by Achilles. Plenty of chain clearance. I have a thread on this tire. https://www.stromtrooper.com/suspension-tire-tech/415235-almost-time-rear-tire-darkside-reconsidered.html Appears to still be available on EBay. Genuine PITA to install, but rides fine. Very little difference in rideability.
Correction: Actually, NOT available on Ebay? There is a Bridgestone Potenza advertised in that size, for $95.

It appears the Achilles 175/55/17 is still available here, for $48: https://superbuytires.com/tires/model/Achilles/ATR-K+ECONOMIST/signup.php?tire_specs_id=338072&show_specs=Y
