Hi all.
It's been awhile since I've been 'on. I pulled the fairing and front cowling apart to repair a cracked headlight lens and the following (2) cushions dropped out at some point: 09320-08028. I see on the exploded view the area where the belong but can't figure out exactly where they go.

It appears these cushion where added to the assembly after 2007.
All help is appreciated.
I know I'm going to feel foolish when you educate me.
Thanks in advance.

NY-Nashville w some Triumph friends next Sunday so I want to re-assemble correctly.

Llegan, my pics show that cushion used in 2 places. In the left and right frame covers on molded-in pins, which are part of the covers, and in the cowl. Hard to tell, but they look like they are mounted on pins on the inside of the front cowl itself, right next to the outside of the headlamp.

There are No pins there. There is however a 'cradle like fitting molded into the inside of the cowl panel on both sides that a portion of the instrument cluster fits in. These cushion grommets can fit into these cradles and cushion the instrument cluster assembly from the front cowl.
I'm just not sure.

Yes but all fastening cushion grommets are in place. These are being used for some other purpose. They are not used on pre-2007 dl1000's but were added near 2008 per a few parts diagrams I'm looking at.
They certainly are on mine.....or they were.

Leygan, if the cushions fit those "cradles", what other purpose could those cradles serve? If the cushions are in the cradles, would they prevent the cowl from rattling against the headlamp?

Well, I'm even more baffled now. Both of these cushions fell out at the same time or I think they did. I did find a missing grommet from the right upper side fairing which I didn't notice as I hadn't removed it.
Which leaves me w (1) grommet searching for its location and perhaps ruling out the 'cradle site' hypothesis.
I'm hoping it was lost/replaced at the dealership and fell out when I removed the instrument cluster.
I guess I'll either find it's location or not when I reassemble the front.

I must be losing my mind.

Legan, this is most likely the same schematic that you looked at:
https://www.mrcycles.com/oemparts/a/suz/506b2c27f8700231bc9563c6/cowl-body-installation-parts

Item #7 is the cushion in question, and is shown on the inside of the side of the cowl. Which unfortunately is not shown here. The adjacent parts list shows quantity 4. The same cushion's part number shows up in "Frame Cover", which from the look of that schematic is in he rear seat cowl area.
So... 2 cushions in the front cowl, and 2 cushions in the rear seat area would make sense. Unless your front cowl has 4 cradles to hold the 4 cushions.
If these cushions are prone to falling out of the cradles upon removal, secure them in place with a small dab of silicone sealant. You'll be able to remove them without damage if necessary, and wont damage the cowl if you do.
Dont feel bad...situations like this l make me question my sanity as well.

Leygan, Brockle's parts schematic is better than mine. Item #7 fits into the lower mounting leg of the headlamp body in his schematic.
