Cross over years for accessories

Gen1: 2004-2011, Gen2: 2012-2016, and Gen3: 2017+. Accessories are compatible within those ranges, Across the ranges, it's a crapshoot, so the question is not answerable without knowing exactly which product you're asking about.

I have found that while many things for Gen 1 will still work on Gen 3, you won't know that for sure without either a) experience with both generations, or b) asking the manufacturer. (Or, sometimes, asking here.)

Thanks for the response.. let's start with basics. Gen 1 hepco kickstand and a Gen 2 monkey luggage rack . I found both used for $100 each. Obviously a huge $$ savings of they will work.

Kickstand for $100? Kind of pricey. Did you mean skidpan?

Skidpans are often dependent on not only a year range but also a certain brand of crash bar.

The center Stand. They are $429 CAD.. so for $100, I am winning

The brand of center stand is important. You can encounter compatibility issues between the center stand, the bash plate, and a notional aftermarket exhaust. I went with the Suzuki OEM center stand, and found it discounted on eBay.

Yes...center stand fit is dependant on brand & fit of other accys like skid plate & exhaust either stock or aftrmkt.

To my knowledge all 650 Stroms still used the original 02-12 DL1000 frame..but with different engine hangers.

2017 up 650 Top luggage plates will interchange on 2014-19 DL1000s but not on 12-16 650s or any gen1 Strom.

I answer these questions quite often. I suggest focusing on one accessory at a time. Some are compatible with all years and some are specific to 2017 to current DL650s.
