I have a Corbin, think that's the only V Strom model. Mine is good although all leather and therefore rather slippery. I've seen others that needed modification to fit right but mines not bad.

oem problems

thanx jirvine.

Here are the problems that I am trying to solve with the stock 1000 seat:

1. Hot spots: After riding 4 hours, the foam felt hard as a rock. I think my wife is going to have the same problem on back.

2. Front curve up: The stock seat has that rise at the front going up the tank that's too close for comfort. It's just not giving me enough room. I feel like I am sitting on/in a "v".

Did you have the same problems, and did the Corbin fix 'em?

I am looking at all options, including air hawk. Found medium air hawk for 149+shipping. That's allot of green for rubber, but I hear good things.

Thanx-a-bunch for any additional help. All real options seem to be big bucks, so I want to be educated. Doug.

Finally a topic I actually have experience on

I really like the corbin On my Dl1000.
When I got the bike it had the stock seat installed and came with the Corbin. I rode a few thousand miles on the stock seat and had pretty much the same impression.
While it feels soft at first, for me, after just 45min I began feeling pressure in places that just should not feel pressured due to the curve up at the front of the seat.

The corbin is made from much firmer foam, and is a little slippery as already mentioned. It's comfortable for me just about all day. And I dont feel any one pressure point on my back side, even after hours of riding.
I only have about 800 miles on the corbin so far but feel it's a much, much better seat in terms of comform. It also seems to be sort of breaking in with more miles. It's starting to sag where I sag and seems to be getting more comfortable.

Also keep in mide that the Corbin is not "crowned" like the stock seat so it makes the bike feel taller because I can't get my leg as close to the bike.

Hope that helps, I would recomend it! :D
