2002 DL1000 that Im bringing back to life; Rode the beast for the first time today. Got it on a trade and had to replace stator, rotor, go over the whole bike and then fabricate forward controls to work with 70 year old legs that dont like to bend LOL
As I have not yet replaced the polarized film the clears up temp gauge, odometer and fuel gage I had no clue as to what the engine temp was but did not hear or feel the cooling fan running ( I drained all old coolant and refilled while going over the bike). So I wonder at what temp the fan comes on ???? Also what colors are the wires that operate the fan ? Didnt think to investigate that while I had all the plastics off........
Its 97 degrees here today & figure the fan would have been cycling in traffic ?
At 54000 mi the ole gal seems to be running well & was surprized by the power ! Having rode crusiers & harleys for 50 years I was impressed with the comfort and handling

Gonna answer one of my own questions----I installed a water temp joint (for gage hookup) in lower rad hose and aftermarket digital temp gage after my first ride, after making sure all the air was out the system I took another ride still about 96 degrees outside......moving around town stayed about 89-92 C, in traffic about 105..... on open road running 65MPH it would average 79-85.......back in light traffic until I got home about 92-96. Still never heard or felt the fan come on, will check that system out later.
My gauges still work and they are in bars not numbers so not much help to you. Mine has about 6 bars I think and my fan comes on after 3 of the bars have been displayed.
