I'm a bit crazy. I ride all year round as long as there isn't ice currently on the road when I begin my ride. My coldest ride before I got heated gear was 1 hour and 15 minutes long, in the dark, at 7 degrees Fahrenheit. That wasn't on the Wee, but it really doesn't matter what you're riding when it's that cold out. Every few miles I was switching hands and grabbing onto a cylinder to keep my fingers thawed.
These days I'm a little wiser. Now I have Gerbing G3 gloves that I plug in any temp below 50 degrees. With a Heat Troller, I can adjust how toasty my fingers get. If I think it's going to get chilly at all while I'm out, the heated gloves go on. They're not bulky and they're capable of cooking my fingers if I let them. It's far easier to turn a knob for warm fingers than it is to stop and put the warm gloves on, or stop and warm up my fingers after they get cold. When the gloves are turned off, my hands won't overheat if it's warmish out.
I have heated grips on both bikes now. They're good when I'm wearing my warm weather gloves and the temp drops a bit, but they don't warm your whole hand like a heated glove does. Heated grips are nice to have on the bike all the time, but when it's truly cold out, nothing warms like heated gloves do...except when you're running heated gloves AND heated grips at the same time
But if all you want is a warm glove suggestion, I've been fairly happy with my Tourmaster Cold Tex gloves. I think they're about $20-$30 and fairly waterproof too. They have a good feel for the bars and are pretty comfortable. My only real complaint about them (since the price is so low) is that if your hands are wet, you WILL NOT get your hands inside the gloves. The liner is weird like that.
