Comparing the GoPro Hero 11 to the DJI Action 3

Hey folks, as some of you know, we create ADV related content on YouTube. But before I really started doing that, I had a passion for video and photography. So I decided to take the two latest action cameras available on the market and compared them from a motorcyclist's perspective. Hope you find this somewhat helpful if you're in the market for a new camera or thinking of upgrading.

Mandatory watching if you moto vlog. Educational with exceptional production value. Use this video to inform a decision.

We have dashcams on both cars (long story but it involves bad drivers and police!) and so I want to install a 180 cam on the front of my 2017 Vee. No helmet cams, just on the bike. Any wisdom would be appreciated.

Great production and presentation VevZak. ✔

I have used the drone based Mobius Actioncam for years now. I have often looked at upgrading but -
  • I prefer recording with key on (too many missed moments).
  • I prefer small and inobtrusive
  • Longer recording (as in a dash cam). Turning it on and off does not work for me
  • Which means permanently mounted and wired to my bike.

No doubt technology has passed me by, but my unit is set to all manner of options via software on my PC. I have no wish/need to adjust anything while riding anyway and wired from my heated grips power it starts up, and shuts down, via the ignition key.
The 32GB card gives 6 to 8 hours of recording, depending on the resolution and frame rate options set, and will when full, delete the oldest 10 minute video first (also a selected option via my PC) except when I press a button to make that clip unerasable.

Both of the above units are too large (wide) for what I want. Parked on the street most people would not even notice my Mobius. Presently wind rustling and image stabilisation are the two issues that I would wish to address. Any suggestions?
Phil seems to be thinking along the same lines as myself.

I don't have any suggestions off the top of my head for dashcams on motorcycles. I also have them in my vehicles, but as you all stated, they wouldn't really work on a motorcycle. My brother, however, has a Vstrom 650 and the previous owner had a dashcam installed. The camera itself is remote (connected via wire) and the recorder sits in a small tank bag. The camera is mounted somewhere under the headlight cowling. I'll do some research to find out what it is and what is being offered, currently.
