Just dodged a bullet with expensive fuel pump replacement-- My 2003 DL1000 (new to me this spring) just died, briefly-- tried to start it but it kept blowing ignition fuses-- Bad wire, right? OK, so it went into the shop and at first they thought the fuel pump was dead. The bottom of the tank was full of rust, I guess someone stored it improperly one winter. OK, here's the important part of the message; ALL THE PLACES THEY TRIED FOR A NEW FUEL PUMP SAID THEY ARE UNAVAILABLE AND ON BACK ORDER, so I hope none of you have a problem. Anyway, turns out the pump wires are bare once they enter the tank, and a chunk of rust was shorting one out, and that's all it was. Btw, the pump itself is priced at over $700 CDN, so again I hope none of you have any problems with yours.
