Clogged sensor ports?

Have any of you had either of the Temperature or Pressure ports clogged for some reason, that causes a stutter in operations?

My '09 Wee had previous owners that left it sitting in the back of a shed for a year or two, each of them.

Understand that there's Temperature and Pressure reading used instead of Mass Air Flow. I've had wasp nests start in odd places on other vehicles before that led to odd operating responses. So I'm wandering if there's a vent port that gets plugged and causes odd responses.

New fuel pump, fuel strainer, gas tank cleaned out, new spark plugs within the last 2 months, 600 miles.

At least half of the time, the RPM response is beautiful from Idle to 8k RPM. Other times there's weird hesitancy: sometimes 7k RPM, sometimes 4800 RPM, or 5k, or 6200 RPM.

K&N air filter is the only non-OEM I've seen. Have an OEM air filter on the shelf. Contemplating putting the OEM in, replacing the K&N.

The temp sensor is not ported and plugs into the back of the airbox somewhere and does not plug up. The pressure sensors (one for each cylinder) hang on the back of the air box with vacuum taps coming from the throttle body throats. I suppose they could be plugged but more likely is an old and leaky vacuum hose.

Not a big fan of the K&N filter but I don't think that would cause the problem but it would not hurt to rule it out. Your symptoms are a bit vague so hard to say what it is. It could be worn throttle body shaft seals. One test is to start the motor and try to hold the RPMs steady at say 2000 and 3000. If it hunts then the throttle body seals might be leaking and leakage rate is probably random with throttle position.

How many miles has the bike done?

Also, have a look to check that both rubber boots from the air filter to the throttle bodies are secure and not leaking. Sorry, but that will mean taking off the tank again.
Like dmfdmf, I also think that you are now looking in the wrong place.

Despite your assurance of a clean tank and a new pump, I would also recommend a fuel pump test - just to be sure.

My 14 dl650 had the same issue. Hard to understand but started using only 91 octane from a dedicated hose ( we have those in Missouri) sag in performance went away. Never open mine past 6k but for me no need to its fast enough. Might give a try.
