sorry about the bad pictures:(forgot to turn flash off)
After dropping my bike in a gravel pit and scratched up the right side, and breaking the right signal, I figured it was time to hack into the bike.

I am working on finding a perfect light for the plate to keep it legal.
I went though a few different type of mounts and systems, and I liked this best. I want to paint the hinge and metal black, and need to wrap the spring in a ballon for weather tightness. I also need to clean up the cut plastic edges.

I can not believe how much better the bike looks without the big tail.

--I broke the right hand side handguard :( and can not find the install sheet with Suzuki's PN of just the plastic guard. I do not want to have to buy a complete set for just the one piece of plastic. Anybody have it?[/img]

It looks great with the plate up. I guess I have to ask you though...it looks like you used a dull axe to cut the fender...what's up with that?

I used a dremel with a metal cut off wheel. I did not even scrape off the "flung" melted plastic. I will take it apart and paint the metal stuff and clean it up.

I know that this motorcycle modification thing is a personal expression, or personal preference.

I am sure I have done stuff to my bike others wouldnt want to do...
But

I dont understand why people like to cut off the rear fenders.
I love my rear fender...
Im never cutting mine, it's a good looking, useful part of my bike IMO.

BUT thats just me
anyone else?

Rock On

I think it's a little obtrusive but it works. It is an "adventure" bike afterall, but not everyone enjoys the wet and mud...to each his own.

Sorry mate, I didn';t realize it was a "work in progress". Nothing some sanding and smoothing won't cure.

I'm with you Chris, I too like the looks of the rear fender and am leaving it as is. Personal preferences and differing opinions keep things interesting.

Too bad the factory R & D guys don't ride motorcyles - otherwise they would design two-piece fenders (long for practical, short for sporty) -unbolt the lower half if you perfer a short fender. Plus, they would have 3-way adjustable handlebars (height, angle/tilt, & forward/back). The windshield would have a rake adjustment. There would be plastic and aluminum factory skid guards available, thinner summer handguards would be available, the kickstands would have the correct angle with a bigger foot, wider mirrors for wider riders. But - - - what would we do on rainy days!

Bairy, Oneidaa Suzuki phone# (315) 363-0916 &
(315) 363-1729 (fax) is a good contact for Parts info:

Thanks tom. Next order may be from them...

I placed an order for a new side tank cover and turn signal from AZmotorsports and I am begining to wish I had not. They immediately cleared the $ from my CC, and sent a message that it would ship within 1-2 weeks. I can understand the wait, as I am sure they do not carry everything in stock themselves. When 2 weeks went by, and my order status still said it will ship within 1-2 weeks I became a little concerned. I sent an email on friday..asking for an update on my order... 20 minutes later I got a "form response" with my new status as "will ship within 24 hours" .. My thoughts...WOW, they may have screwed up somewhere and they are going to ship it out on Saturday. Well, the status still says will ship within 24 hours. I am waiting. I would have even appreciated a little personal message from them about the status. or what the hold up was.

Bairy, how do you attach pictures when you Post an E-mail?

Arizona Motosports has been very responsive when I place orders. Maybe it was an isolated case? You may have to buy a new set of handguards.
I took mine off - too big for my lowered bars!

Thanks Tom
First you have to upload it to a place on the internet that other people can access, There a tons of free sites you can upload photos to.

Just replace the quaotation marks with coresponding brackets [ ]
Example:

Uh check your credit card agreement. I think that they are not allowed to charge your CC until the product ships. I'm pretty sure.

<---helping?
