For the past several years a good friend and I have gotten together over the Memorial Day weekend to catch up on the goings on in our lives. It is much better in person than over the phone/computer. This year we have chosen the Chattanooga area to meet and ride. Some background info. Both of us are seasoned riders and don’t mind riding to find good roads and/or sights. He is coming from the Warsaw Indiana area and I will be riding up from the Daytona, FL area. We will get to the area on Friday and be leaving for home on Monday.
We are going to motel (an inexpensive one) it this trip. Most likely just use it as a base area to ride from and to, rather that motel to motel. Does anyone have any suggestions as to decent and reasonably priced motels?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to riding routes? We like scenic, curvy and interesting roads. We will have 2 full days to find and ride the area.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I’m sure the helpful members of the forum will have many suggestions. When you come to Bikeweek or Biketoberfest, just send me a shoutout.

I’ve been in Chatty for a couple of years, no local but it’s great town and you should enjoy your time. A few thoughts…

- Stay downtown and you will pay a little more (~$150) but you can park the bike and walk/free-shuttle-it to some cool local spots like Terminal BrewHouse, Hair of the Dog Pub or catch a Lookouts game (minor league baseball).
- If you stay NE of the city near Hamilton Place mall, it should be a little less (~$100) but you’ll have to ride everywhere. Lots of chain restaurants and shopping…. if that’s your thing.

Places close that you can roll through quickly: Lookout Mtn, Signal Mtn, Suck Creek Rd (27), National Cemetery, or Chickamauga battlefield. Within a couple of hours you have the Jack Daniels distillery (Lynchburg), Cherohala Skyway (Tellico Plains), and Deals Gap (Robbinsville NC).

These are just a few of the many great rides in the area, I’m sure others will chime in. Enjoy the trip!
