Change 15/47 to 14/49

About 6 years ago I changed 15t to 14t and 47t to 49t makes my 650 v-strom more enjoyable.
I also got a speedhealer and set it with gps.
In 6th gear it is about 12 mph per 1000 rpm.
5000 rpm 60 mph
6000 rpm 72 mph
6650 rpm 80 mph
I think the original gearing was too high to get better gas mileage.
What is your opinion?

I don't like a smaller countershaft sprocket as it makes the chain bend "tighter" . A few teeth smaller on the rear won't have much impact in that regard but will have to remove a few links from the chain, which is sort of a pain, but I'm fine with the stock bearing.

Gearing doesn't seem to effect mileage much.

What does is riding 75+ mph.

Generally the best MPG is just under or near torque peak, where the motor is happiest. It takes less fuel to make changes to your speed too. This is ignoring many other factors that probably matter more on a motor so efficient to begin with.

I agree that changing to a 14T is not the best, But I needed the lower gear ratios.
The lower gearing makes it easier off road. It also gives better acceleration in Traffic.
