Hey everyone,

I was cleaning my chain tonight and I notice that the chain isn't riding on the rubber guide properly. The edge of the chain is riding on it and tearing the hell out of the guide. Do you guys know of an easy way to correct this. I couldn't find a quick fix. I thought I might be able to slide the guide over, but the mounting of it doesn't really permit it. Thanks in advance.

are you talking about the black plastic piece around the front of the swingarm? that is a guard. there is no chain guide. it's normal for that to get worn by the chain. it's there to prevent the chain from eating the swingarm.

It looks as if it is intended for the rollers of the chain to ride on the ridge of this black plastic/rubber piece. The edge of my chain (rather than the rollers) is riding on top of that ridge. The chain is cutting right into that piece. I would think that this would wipe the lube off the chain and cause restriction on the chain.

the piece is sacrificial. if it was harder, it would harm the chain. it's meant to wear like that and to be replaced when necessary before it wears through.
