Has anybody done the road from Cooktown to Cape Tribulation or visa versa recently, say the last couple of years on a Wee Strom or similar? The information on the web suggests 4WD vehicles but little info about the condition of the road etc. I plan fitting more dirt oriented tyres for the ride from Townsville. I'm informed that getting from Cairns to Cape Tribulation is easy as in no need for 4WD but information about the next section is sparce.
I hope to do the ride in June.

You shoudnt have any issues.
Road is generally in good condition. Couple of usually shallow creek crossings and the hill can be a bit slippery if its wet.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I'll take a camera so I can put in a RR. The last couple of rides I've forgotten to pack it in the tank bag.

Piece of cake...it's usually in good shape, they just don't want all the hire-cars and campers to go through.

This is going the other way...

GOOD dirt from Lions Den Pub to the Bloomfield River.... these 2 creeks are a bit further south

Sealed again from PK's resort to the Daintree Ferry (and on to Cairns).

Some good spots for a bit of fun :biggrinjester:
