Some dingleberry thought he might want to have the "Highest Point" sign on the wall of his room in mom's basement, but apparently lacked the technical acumen required to guarantee success.

So if you're up there riding along looking for the sign and suddenly realize you're in Virginia, it's because the sign is gone.

A man after my own heart!
Plaques and anything that looks like copper are being ripped off and scrapped by hard working d-wads. Some times they get lucky and forget to shut off the power and electrocute themselves.
Lots of Clampper historic signs have been pinched too.
Not far from here, somebody stole someone's aluminum handicap ramp from their house.

It got found at the scrapyard and police are questioning a person of interest.
Purely shameful behavior to destroy such an iconic sign as that . Not to mention the simple fact of the pitiful behavior it takes to destroy anything of someones property . But then to just show no concern for property of the public .

I'm hoping the guilt of such finds them discomforted in their own skin . One thing I hope the perpetrators realize . It's the obvious fact that BRP is a National Park and is federal territory . Their fun and good time will get quite unpleasant quite fast if and when the park service rangers go knocking on someones door with a Federal Felony arrest warrant .

Want my humble opinion , I'd have a real strong guess just who might have done that . There are some boys that live in that section of road in Sapphire on the Transylvania County side , right in the area of 215 that take great pride in stealing landmark signs . They's got quite the stash under a shed in the vicinity of the bed and breakfast there .

HINT HINT ! It would be my first suspicion in those parts . They make it a point to do just such on a regular basis . They spend alot of time out prowling for landmark theft and destruction . If you recall from the local papers in the area , they destroy and awful lot of the signs and light post at entrances of the high end golf clubs as well .

I'd say go get yourself a muffin at the B&B and sniff around a bit .
