Yes, I dropped her.
At 0 speed, on a slanted road with a stop sign I fell to the right, darn heavy bike - who is the idiot who designs these roads?? :furious:

So I guess I'm officially a stromtrooper, since everybody seems to be doing it.
The AltRider crash bars did their job.
But, the right front turn light smashed - the lens and housing are broken but not the lamp or electronics or the 'stud' (what ever you call that piece of elastic rubber/plastic)

So I need a lens (found the part no) and also the housing (in red arrow):

but it seems I have to get whole $55 assembly to replace that $1 housing.
Does anybody know how to get it for cheap?

I also read about getting buell turnlights, but they seem incompatible with the bike. There is a gap between the new 'stud' and the fairing.

Let me look tomorrow, I think I replaced mine, that was only scratched, not broken in my get-off. If you can live with a scratched underside, I will karma up and send it out.Not sure if I did or not, more tomorrow by lunchtime.

Thanks a lot for trying to help.
Yes, I can live with some scratches.
Do you have just the housing? Did the lens survive the fall?

Having broken a OEM turn signal in a similar way this year, I did replace it for around $80 including tax and shipping :jawdrop:.

Not wanting to endure this outrageous price again in future I did change out both of my front turn signals with Buell X1 signals. Part # Y0526.k (Left rear) and Part # Y0527.k (Right rear). These were $50 for a pair shipped from BuellParts.net.

To make the blink rate the same as the OEM signals the bulb needs to be changed to an amber bulb #1156. Remove the amber lense in the Buell signal to allow room for the new amber bulb.

The Buells come with bullet end fittings and will not match up with the OEM fittings on the Strom, so I used an adapter wiring harness for a clean install.

A person will have to purchase metric nuts and washers for the signal.

Thanks, I think I'll use the existing OEM connectors and soldier them to the Buell ones.

Still waiting to get an answer from GLHS837 - if the housing/lens are good I might just do it.
But something tells me that the Suzuki OEM turn signals solution will not hold ...

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your very kind offer.
I'll try to get some from a local hardware store.
If I don't manage to get it right, then I'll PM you for sure (and send you the shipping costs through paypal etc.)

Great, thanks!
Just don't want to confuse you - my Front Right turn light broke, not the Left.
Which one did you fall on?

Not to hi-jack BigMan's thread but just to clarify, you used the rear Buell signals to replace the front DL ones? I broke my front right one on my DL650 in a slow drop last week. Like BigMan I broke the lens and a piece of the case but the bulb is intact and still works. Ordered the OEM replacement from the local Suzuki dealer for $50 Can. before taxes. Sucks that you have to buy the whole assembly.
Thanks;
Earl

Found it in the pile o' parts:) To be sure, this is the right one as you sit on the bike, or starboard in Sailor Speak:) Not the right as you look at the bike. If that's right, send me a PM with your info and I will send it out. Your only return obligation is to help a fellow human when you can. :mod2_helpsmilie:

Yes, I did use the rear Buell signals to replace the OEM signals. They appear to be identical in appearance to the front Buell signals also available and are priced the same at $20.

PM Sent.

I accept the return obligation and promise to help other fellow humans whenever I can (a practice which I already do).

Many thanks!
