I think the front has the same wear indicator, but its difficult to see with the calipers in place. I just shine a flashlight around the calipers/pads and estimate thickness. Stock pads are about 4mm when new.

dravnx, I totally agree with your comments. Especially about the strange wear indicator. My assumption is, once the pad material wears down to the inside edge of indicator it’s time to replace. Do you agree?

Yeah, generally that's for stock (OEM) pads, if you have replaced the rear pads with something like EBC's or the like, that wear indicator won't be there. I replace the rear pads on my 013 with EBC sintered because OEM really sucked.

I strive to learn nothing and sometimes you guys force me to learn something. Today you won. I wonder why the rear has such an odd wear indicator.
I know that there is no way I would let a pair of pads wear that close to the backing plates;)
