Brake lines long enough?

1289 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  teevee
I found some 4 pot brakes on Ebay which I am awaiting delivery. Before I order all the other stuff from Blaire, I am wondering if the stock brake lines will reach the new calipers. I have 1" risers (1 up 1 back) mounted which is what's confusing me. I wasn't originally planning to change the lines, but will if I have to.
Anybody face this situation and can give me some advice?

probably will be a tad tight. when i upgraded to 4 pots, i upgraded the lines to stainless +2", since i also swapped bars and added risers. while i admit my lines are plenty long, i think the stockers would have been stretched.

your 1" up and 1" back is two inches. plus the new calipers move the attachment point for the lines a bit. best bet is to call or email Blair.
Blair at SVRacing has 2" longer brake lines SVRacingParts.com

If you never orderd from him yet, let him know you're a Trooper or write him a PM thru the forum. http://www.stromtrooper.com/members/sv-racing-parts.html

I recently did the same with a set of Rox risers. I tried with the stock lines and no way would they work with the stock bars & those risers. I upgraded to the 2" extended Galfer lines from SV Racing and they worked great. I was able to get the stock throttle cables to work with a little careful routing.

Now I have to figure out what pair of bars I really want.....

if you have handguards, be careful when switching bars. most likely your guards will not work with the new bars, especially if you have barkbusters...

ask me how i know:headbang:
