Does That involve moving the tank at all or can I just remove that piece without removing anything else?

I didn't have to remove any plastic when I put my longer brake lines on this weekend. I just dropped the new lines down from them top.

I did remove the bolt holding the stock break line to the bottom steering stem clamps and zip-tied the speedometer cable to one of the new brake lines.
