Brake caliper clean

Hi all, what's the best way to clean my brake calipers on a budget?
They are off the bike.
MK1 650 but I don't suppose it matters.
It's a hard used bike and the calipers don't leak, it's just having an over haul.
Yes I am prepared to get a rebuild kit but don't feel I need to at this point.
Thanks Clive.

Go easy on solvents with rubber parts! Use scotch brute (fine) pads ; & then only where necessary.Rubber compounds have come a long way. Use silglide brake grease,or similar for aseembly.Syringe allbrake fluid out of master cylinders before beginning to bleed brakes.Use new brake fluid. BRAKE FLUID IS PAINT REMOVER. Careful.

Methylated spirits and an old toothbrush has always worked for me. Scotchbrite if the pistons are really crapped up.
Aerosol brake cleaner an old toothbrush, rubber gloves and a few minutes.

When I rebuilt my brake calipers, I used denatured alcohol. It's a great solvent, it dries quickly, and it leaves no residue.
