Hallo,

I'm planning to install a BlueSea 5025 for all my gadgets. I went through a lot of posts. And now i'm just trying to make sure i understand all of it.

1. I will install Symtec heated grips over stock grips and will use grip puppies.
Will use "hidden" connector with Eastern Beaver adapter. I'm assuming that connecting heated grips to the stock "hidden" connector will will turn off grips while ignition is off (bike not running). Right?

2. Next I will mount 5025. I will use red 10G wire from + Batt to the Relay.
- What kind of Relay i could use?
- Does Eastern Beaver has any options? Any of you is using - 30A Fuse Panel Relay Kit (no fuse panel)?
- Where did you guys get yours?
And Black 10G for negative. I will also need a inline fuses.
- Do i need one on both wires (Neg and Pos) from the battery to the relay? - Where can i get them and what kind (30Amp)?
I was thinking to use a Rear Brake Connector Relay Switching Adaptor by Eastern Beaver also.

3. i will mount 3x12V for a GPS and 2xfor a heated liners.

Either the OEM heated grip connector or the rear brake light switch connector from Eastern Beaver can be used to supply ignition on power to the relay (blue wire in diagram). Any 30 or 40 amp automotive relay can be used. They are normally marketed for horn relays. E/B also carries relays. Only the hot(+) wire needs a 30A fuse. The two wires from the battery need to be 10 or at least 12ga.

I will use a OEM just for a heated grips. And the rear break switch for a relay.

Not the brake switch, use the rear tail light wire, this is powered when the ignition is on and off when it is off, this is used to power the relay.

The rear brake wire is only powered when the ignition is on AND the brakes are applied.

Just a bit of confusion between connector and wires I think, but I am sure you knew what you were doing :)

The E/B brake light switch involves the hot lead to the switch, not from it. It's a good ignition on hot wire source.

We are talking about a relay used to turn on an auxiliary fuse block. Both are add on parts. People installing them have put the relay in different places. Basically, anywhere it will physically fit could work.

i have the blueseas fuseblock.

Can i wire the fuse block directly to the battery?

Without a relay, anything connected to the fuse block will always be on and draining the battery, even when the ignition is off.

Ok cool, as long as i shut off the radar detector and gps, no power will be drawn from the batt. I see by the diagram that the relay is between the battery and the fuse block. Does the inline fuse have to be there?

Yes. It's vital that any hot wire off the battery be fused as close to the battery as possible.

Nice diagram.
I don't have those little boxes where you connected your grips, etc. Can I still wire it that way? :weapons_90:

Without the relay

Hi all, thanks for all the help.
Do I need an inline fuse on the hot lead from the battery if I'm not using the relay, instead powering directly to the fuse block?

Even though it's a long shot that a wire off the battery will get shorted to the frame by getting pinched or having a tool penetrate it, the consequences of having a direct short on a heavy wire to the battery may include fire or a battery explosion. It is, therefore, standard practice to fuse any hot wire off a battery as close to the battery as possible. An exception is the starter wire as a fuse that will pass starter current would be so large as to be practically useless as a safety device. Instead, the cable to the starter is carefully routed and insulated to protect it.
